Hotels In Uganda

The Ugandan capital Kampala is an important regional political and economic centre and as such has a number of world class hotels. A handful of these are five star establishments, such as the Sheraton Hotel, the Emin Pasha Hotel and the Imperial Royale Hotel. Others such as the Speke Hotel is one of the capital’s oldest, and recently refurbished it maintains the grand colonial ambience with the addition of all the modern creature comforts.

At the mid range there are good many cheaper options that are comfortable and centrally located. It is best however to read any available trip advisories because standards are patchy, although as a general rule if a hotel is part of an online listing it should maintain a reasonable standards.

Outside the capital it is only possible to find upscale hotels within the towns of Jinja and Mbarara. For the rest the countryside is replete with unremarkable establishments and cheap and suspect hostelries catering to local trade. However within and around the main national parks there are a number of lavish lodges and tented camps that can be extremely expensive but at the same time provide the last word in bush elegance.
