Tanzania is a global tourist destination so as might be expected it offers a wide diversity and extremely high standard of hotel and lodge accommodation. Every major center, and many smaller centers, as well as all the principal tourist destinations offer at least one major hotel, usually many more than that, and many mid-range to budget options too.
Added to this there is a very wide network of wilderness and wildlife lodge options that are usually associated in some way with one of the main national parks or geographic features. Added to this there are quite a number of private game farms and conservancies that offer tented camp or lodge accommodation of a very high standard. Most of these quote an all inclusive price for accommodation and field excursions
Luxury bush accommodation is often under canvas, which should not be confused with sleeping in a tent. While there might be a temporary and rough and ready aspect to this, this is often merely to lend the impression of a safari environment. In fact competition in the sector is fierce and so no effort is usually spared to render bush camps and wildlife lodges and sublimely comfortable as humanly possible.
Some of the most enjoyable are those on Zanzibar Island and in and around the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. However Mafia Island, Kilimanjaro, Tarangire and Arusha National Parks, as well as Selous national Park and Pemba Island all have excellent facilities to choose from.
