Hotels In Cameroon

Cameroon has a comparatively well established tourist industry and so is well served by hospitality establishments countrywide. These range from local auberges to local Christian missions to luxury brand name hotels.

At the top end The Hilton Yaoundé has a slightly jaded Las Vegas look, and at US300+ a night, a tariff to match. The Motel Febe Sofitel is a luxury resort complex situated a few miles out of town, and is cheaper than the Hilton, and moreover has a 9 hole golf course.

A better option are authentic travelers hotels such as the El Panaden and Hotel Laginaque in downtown Yaoundé. A favorite with overland travelers and backpackers is the Foyer International L’Église Persbytérienne.

Douala has several quality business and traveler hotels situated in the downtown district as well as a handful of cheaper options, and a backpackers retreat in the Center d’Accueil Missionaire.

In the outlying areas availability and standards are patchy, but local hotels are to be found, as are many friendly and accommodating Christian missions that seem in Cameroon to duplicate the facilities of backpackers lodges and hostels.
