Namibia is very much linked into the South Africa hostel and backpacker lodge fraternity which, it goes without saying, is the widest reaching and by far the most sophisticated on the continent.
There are quite are a few Namibian backpackers lodges that rank fairly highly in the local hall of fame. Alternative Space in Swakopmund is, as the name implies, among the great head space journeys in Southern Africa, of which there are quite a few, but many others are competing for the backpacker dollar which is very big dollar in the region.
Almost every town, park or lodge offers camping facilities, and as with everywhere in the region this is the best way to stretch your accommodation dollar on a trip through the region. Facilities are uniformly good and safe.
