Flights to Nigeria

Nigeria is a major regional and international hub through which many flights into and out of West and Central Africa are routed. It has four international airports and seven major domestic airports, with some 25 smaller district and local airports and airstrips scattered around the country.

Nigeria does not have a state airline as such, but operates two international carriers, the main one being Virgin Nigeria, which is a local partnership with Virgin Atlantic. Virgin Nigeria operates a regular direct flight from London/Gatwick, and has plans to launch a scheduled flight from Lagos to Houston in Texas. Delta Airlines also operates a daily service between either Atlanta or John F. Kennedy direct to Lagos.

Virgin Atlantic itself also operates a regular direct flight to Lagos from London/Heathrow, as does British Airways. Several other European airlines also offer direct connections either with Lagos, Kano or the Nigerian administrative capital Abuja. These include KLM from Amsterdam, Air France from Paris, Alitalia from Milan, Turkish Airlines from Istanbul, Lufthansa from Frankfurt and Iberian from Madrid.

Other regional and international connections include China Southern Airlines from Beijing and Dubai, Emirates from Dubai, Middle East Airlines from Beirut and Qatar Airlines from Doha. A comprehensive network of region links are also available from all four international airports serving all the major capitals throughout east, west, central and southern Africa.

An equally comprehensive domestic service is offered by a variety of local and regional operators, including primarily Virgin Nigeria.
