Flights to Liberia

Liberia is not a particularly easy country to get to, even by air. It has one international Airport, Roberts International Airport, inconveniently located some 35 miles outside the capital city of Monrovia. Roberts has on occasions ceded prominence to the more local Spriggs Payne Airport close to the downtown that, although a domestic facility, has of late fielded regional/international flights.

The only non-African connection to Roberts International is on Brussels Airlines from Brussels via Abidjan, but this is a pricey option, and a more frequently plied route is via surrounding West African capitals from where a number of flights and connections are available. These are principally Kenya Airways from Nairobi and Royal Air Maroc from Casablanca.

From Spriggs Payne several smaller charter and regional carriers offer connections to Monrovia from Freetown, Conakry, Abidjan and Lagos.

Scheduled internal flights are virtually unobtainable, and internal air travel is either private or through various relief and crisis agencies who might, and frequently do, offer lifts if approached to outlying parts of the country
